In mid-December 1943, at the Arado facilities
in Landeshut/Schlesien, work began on a flying
wing project series under the direction of
Dr.-Ing. W. Laute. This was further elaborated
by Dipl. Ing. Kosin and Lehmann of Arado
under the title of "Long Range/High
Speed Flying Wing Aircraft". A discussion
took place with the RLM several months later
in early 1944, and Arado was asked to compile
design studies for a long range jet powered
bomber. Since the requirements were high
speed, a bomb load of at least 4000 kg (8818
lbs) and a range of 5000 km (3107 miles),
it was realized that the project could best
be fulfilled by using a flying wing design
with a laminar high speed profile. The number
of designs eventually reached fifteen, and
included strategic bombers, remote controlled
weapons carriers and fighters.
On December 28, 1944, Arado was
ordered to
cease all work on the E.555 series,
probably
due to the worsening war situation,
and the
need to concentrate aircraft
development
and production on fighters.

The Revell model is a lot cured and precise
in the splices, perhaps the transparent are
little thick. Much simple one to assemble
quite amusing and puttied very little. The
dimensions are of all respect: length 220mm
wing span 300mm height from earth (with open
undercarriage) 70 milimeter. Not having of
the real references on the adopted type of
camouflage, I have chosen the classic enough
usual version splitter for the bombers of
the age. The colors correspond to RLM 82
for the clear parts (corrispondende to a
Tamiya XF26) and RLM 81 for the dark parts
(correspondent to Tamiya XF 27) apparently
these colors would seem dark but having had
the model a clear varnish bottom, the colors
of covers to make lightly lighter, giving
a good aspect. For inferior part RLM 76 it
has been used a Humbrol 176 with perfect
correspondence. I have given a layer of transparent
I polish in order to apply the decal perfectly,
waiting for the perfect dry of all for giving
the opaque finish of Microscale (Micro Flat)
have been added cables of cockpit the hydraulic
tubes for the undercarriages and relati hatches
, an effect weight to the tires . The small
diorama represents a little scene in which
in a restricted area an official presumablly
gives the orders to two soldiers, entrusted
to watch the precious load of the Arado E555,
"the mysterious Virus House" that
the next day would have release!
